With Umbrellium

Linguine is an operating system for public space, enabling the coordination and control of a variety of urban infrastructures and technologies such as lighting, cameras, projectors and fountains. It was originally developed for Another Life, one of Europe’s largest permanent interactive public artworks in Bradford, England.

The early version of the software, a custom C++ interaction engine that took data from real sensors and devices, creating a framework of relationships and feedback loops that could be modified through a simple interface to orchestrate the conditions of the public space. This software included a custom OpenGL 3D visualisation, demonstrating the output of the system and a port of OpenSteer, a multi-agent programming library to simulate movements of the public within the space.
